Vessantara Jataka00 The Buddha told the story of King Vessentara

The Buddha told the story of King Vessentara, his previous life, 

when he visited his father’s kingdom for the first time 

since he had attained the supreme enlightenment.

God Indra gave his consort 10 boons 

and one of them was to become the mother of Bodhisatta, 

who in his next life would attain enlightenment.

Vessantara Jataka02 King Vessantara gave away the magical white elephant

King Vessantara gave away the magical white elephant, the citizens  got angry. 

Thus they forced King Sanjaya,Vessantara’ father,

to resume control of the kingdom and banish his son ,Vessantara.

Maddi’s return passage to their resident was blocked by tigers(gods in disguise). 

She requested them to give her a passage.

Vessantara Jataka10 God Indra intervened and in disguise, asked for his wife, Maddi

Fearing that Vessantara would give away his wife as well. 

God Indra intervened and in disguise, 

asked for his wife, Maddi, which Vessantara gave him as well. 

Then Indra gave Vessantara Maddi back  a trust.

They disguised as their parents and helped nursing Jali and Kanha.
